Romancing the West

A little about me, and some of the things I cherish
Some of my favorite places. . .

Texas: Dallas,  Weatherford,
San Antonio,
Castroville

New Mexico: Old Mesilla, Taos, Santa Fe, Questa, Red River

Arizona: Tucson, Bisbee, Sedona

New York: Long Island

Washington D.C.

Oregon : Bend and the Oregon Coast, the Columbia River

California: San Francisco, San Diego, Sea World, Santa Barbara, and Disneyland. :-)

Favorite recipes:
Easy Chile con Queso
Mix together in a 2 quart pot, 1 lb. velveeta cheese, and one 10 oz. can Ro Tel Mexican Festival (contains diced tomatoes, lime juice and cilantro) one 4 oz. can peeled and diced green chiles. Heat the mixture on low until the cheese melts. Stir often to avoid burning the cheese. Serve with your favorite tostadas and beverage of your choice.

I'm interested in so many things that in college I found it impossible to settle on one subject. I love dogs, cats, birds, horses, fish, most animals. Gardening, hiking in the foothills, walking in the desert (when it's cool) and traveling.

I enjoy being with family and friends, oil painting, collecting rocks and fossils, hunting for new information on dinosaurs -- which reminds me of a story I've started based on "dinosaur beach" -- a fantastic place.  Although I'd read about dinosaurs and their tracks, the thirty inches of footprint touching my toes made the dinosaurs' past an amazing reality.

Texas is home to me as it was
to some of my ancestors -- men who were farmers, ranchers, judges, lawmen, businessmen -- women who would rather be outside riding their horses than inside cooking, who learned to speak the language of the Lipan Apache, stopped hangings, raised children and sewed their own clothes.

I love writing stories set in the Southwest about heros and heroines, the problems they overcome, their fears and triumphs and the forever love they can't deny.

Through my writing I've attended writing workshops and conventions which totally inspired and energized me. I've met writers online and in person who are some the most generous people I know. It must
have something to do with romance stories and happily ever after. :-)

I'm a member of Romance Writers of America, The Yellow Rose Chapter of RWA, Hearts Through History online RWA chapter, From the Heart Romance Writers, Future Fantasy and Paranormal RWA Chapter, and The Wild Writers, a group of friends who formed a book in a week group a while back and continue to offer support when needed and cheer each other's successes.
